Sunday morning dreary,
collecting images from late nights passed –
the recollection
heavy.
Rain reverberates off the windowpane, and
slaps the
soaked pavement
as if egging me on. Abrasively
asking for memories, the cheap change
I hoard to define myself.
The rain can have outside, for now,
as I need another cup of
coffee, please.

Oh how well you describe a Sunday morning with rain…and that desire to just have another cup of coffee and forget the memories for awhile….really like this poem.

This is a beautiful depiction of that frame of mind a rainy morning can bring. I love that line about memories -‘the cheap change I hoard to define myself’- actually I love all the lines. Wish I had written it.

Love that it is the coffee and not the rain that flushes the memories.
